In 1995, while on his honeymoon in South Asia, Jossy Chacko, Empart’s Founder and President, met an 8 year old boy sleeping on the streets who ended up sharing Jossy and Jenni’s three week honeymoon. After this encounter, Jossy could not stop asking the question, “Why has God placed me here on earth?” Two years of searching brought him to the unshakable conclusion that the only reason for him to exist was to give people the opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus.
In 1997 Jossy and Jenni felt called to start Empart. They started with a team of 5 in South Asia and set the goal to transform 100,000 communities by the year 2030.
From the first Transformation Centre for field workers in 1999, there are now hundreds of indigenous workers trained every year, who pastor local communities and meet their most pressing practical needs.
