South Asian children
South Asia is a region with all kinds of injustices and unfortunately it’s the nation’s children which are often most impacted. Low value for human life and an economic system that supports forced child labour perpetuates this cycle of injustice. This is further aggravated by a lack of family planning and poor education. Poor hygiene standards and a lack of access to medical care leads to high infant mortality rates and infanticides are still widely practiced.
The goal of Empart’s children’s homes is to bring children into an awareness of their God-given value, to experience his love, and to believe that he has a good plan for their life. Children are given the opportunity to ’be a kid’ again, and are encouraged to imagine a bright future. Many field workers and their wives welcome such children into their family and homes where they can then live safely and be given the time and attention they deserve.
A major advantage of these homes is that they fit well with the lifestyle of a typical south Asian family. Children are allowed to grow and develop naturally in an environment which is not only culturally appropriate, but that holds biblical values and is spiritually alive.
